Jamaican Soul

Alton Ellis: You Make Me Happy
Dennis Alcapone feat. Phyllis Dillon: The Weeding Song

From Jamaica Soul (Treasure Isle, 2007)

It's not regularly when I post some reggae cuts. Reading usually Loaded I guess you search something like soul/rock stuff. But these compilation - Jamaica Soul - propose some covers tune we appreciate here. Some soulfull stuff such like Marlena Show's 'Woman Ghetto' covered by Phyllis Dillon or the ultra-known 'The World Needs Love' here covered by Tommy Mc Cook. These album compiled some the tunes from all great productions of the legendary Arthur 'Duke' Reid for his Treasure label during the golden days of Jamaican music. Born in 1915, Reid started his career in music as DJ, then a sound system owner, then a label head (Trojan and Treasure Isle), then a highly accomplished producer who masterminded some of the greatest Jamaican music of the 60's.

Ps: thanks for your support Deano Sounds and Thomas.
